An All Star team performs purely for the challenge, thrill, and competition of the sport. The main difference between High School cheer and All Star cheer is that a High School cheerleading team’s primary purpose is to support a local school’s sports team and keep the crowd excited. Dance is a portion of a routine that consists of choreographed high energy dance moves. Pyramids are a form of stunting but are done as a large group and are interconnected. This also sometimes includes co-ed stunting that may only include one base and one flyer. Stunting refers to a group of two or more individuals that elevate another cheerleader in the air. When we refer to tumbling, we mean gymnastic type skills like cartwheels and back handsprings. This routine is performed and scored against other competitive teams at various local, regional, national, and worldwide competitions. Our energetic and talented staff is ready to take you to the next level!Īll Star Cheer is a discipline of cheer that involves athletes performing a 2 1/2 minute routine composed of tumbling, stunting, pyramids, dance, and cheer segments to music. WIDC All Star Dance is one of the premier programs of its kind in the area. Every athlete is a very important part of the team. All practices and competitions are mandatory. Dance teams will perform and compete inapproximately 5-8 events which includes our end of season showcase performances.ĭance teams practice one day per week for 1 – 2 hours. This will involve roughly one competition per month. Our teams will compete from December through April. Competition travel will very by level and competitions being offered. WIDC Competition teams will be determined by the end of July. Each judging panel is comprised of industry trained and experienced professionals. The routines are judged based on execution of proper form, alignment, strength, control and technique, synchronization and uniformity, seamless and clean/clear spacing and transitions, creative and appropriate choreography, difficulty, communication and crowd appeal.
